Movie star, 77, attends screening of Laurent Duthuilleul's Venus et Apollin

CANNES, France (Reuters) - French actress Catherine Deneuve, a regular on the Cannes red carpet since the 1960s, added some star power on Monday to the premiere of writer-director Laurent Duthuilleul's Venus et Apollin.

Deneuve, 77, has starred in some 130 films and was the muse of iconic directors such as Luis Bunuel, Francois Truffaut and Roman Polanski.

She wore a long sparkling silver dress with her hair tied back for the screening, which was part of the Cannes Premiere section of the festival, running until July 17.

Duthuilleul's movie tells the story of a young couple who buy a hotel in the countryside and struggle to balance their relationship with the demands of their new business.

The film also stars Lambert Wilson, Fanny Ardant and Nicolas Duvauchelle.
