Joe Flacco to join Indianapolis Colts as backup quarterback
Flacco signs one-year, $8.75 million contract
The Indianapolis Colts have signed veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to a one-year contract worth up to $8.75 million, according to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Flacco brings experience and leadership
Flacco, 37, has 15 years of NFL experience and has started 186 games in his career. He was the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2019 after leading the Baltimore Ravens to a 14-2 record and an AFC North division title.
Flacco is expected to serve as the backup to Colts starting quarterback Matt Ryan.
Colts add depth at quarterback
The Colts were in need of a backup quarterback after Nick Foles signed with the Chicago Bears in free agency. Flacco provides the Colts with a veteran presence and a proven winner.
The Colts are hoping that Flacco can help them make a run to the Super Bowl in 2023.
