## Austin Bergner's gem leads Erie to a Game 1 victory ### SeaWolves take early lead in series against RubberDucks **Erie, Pa.** - Austin Bergner threw seven shutout innings, leading the Erie SeaWolves to a 2-0 victory over the Akron RubberDucks in Game 1 of their best-of-five Eastern League Division Series matchup on Tuesday night at UPMC Park. Bergner, who was making his first start in the Eastern League playoffs, allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters. The right-hander retired the first 10 batters he faced and didn't allow a runner to reach second base until the fifth inning. The SeaWolves gave Bergner all the run support he would need in the second inning. With one out, Josh Lester singled and moved to second on a groundout by Gage Workman. Derek Hill then drove in Lester with a single to right field to give Erie a 1-0 lead. Erie added another run in the fourth inning. With two outs, Lester singled again and stole second base. Workman then drove in Lester with a single to center field to make it 2-0. The SeaWolves' bullpen turned in a strong performance in relief of Bergner. Will Vest worked a perfect eighth inning, and Joe Navilhon struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save. The RubberDucks had a chance to tie the game in the ninth inning. With one out, Jose Tena singled and stole second base. However, Navilhon struck out the next two batters to end the game. Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night at UPMC Park. Akron's Tanner Bibee is scheduled to start against Erie's Beau Brieske.
